With regards to designing we consider that we carry out an analysis to design and build according to the needs and resources, always keeping in mind the aesthetic and technical characteristics as well as the basic rules of construction.

2a. Hydraform Blocks (Interlocking Blocks)

Hydraform interlocking compress gravel block is an interlocking earth block made from soil cement which is a mixture of soil, cement and water (92% gravel and 8% cement) and it is hydraulically compressed to form a high-quality interlocking soil block.

It is highly known for cost saving because 10% of mortar is used for the foundation stage and due to the interlocking nature, unskilled labour can be utilized in construction with a little training thereby empowering rural communities and create jobs.

The blocks interlock top to bottom and front to back.

Block dimensions are 220mm(8.7in) wide, 115mm(4.5in) high and 230mm(9.1in) long. It weighs 12kg(26lb).

Block manufacturing takes 7-14 days to cure to reach desired strength.

The process of interlocking blocks is also cost-effective as blocks are dry stacked to create a wall as opposed to the standard masonry practices where the blocks are laid and cemented by mortar. By being dry stacked, the amount of mortar required is reduced and this can waive the cost of mortar that is generally required in masonry work.

Hydraform can allow for the recycling of materials that is, materials from any remaining mixture can be used as input for hydraform machines while on site. High waged skilled labour is not required. The length of the process to create a wall using interlocking block is shorter than standard brickwork as the blocks do not have to be laid and individually cemented by mortar.

Material needed is sourced locally as the mixture is made up of water, soil and Portland cement. It regulates the temperature of the room because of the high thermal mass of the gravel which helps to economize the use of electricity.

Cost of plastering is also waived off.

2b. Sandcrete

Sandcrete is a yellow-white building material made form a binder (Portland cement), sand in ratio of circa 1:8 and water. It is the building unit used in the construction of walls and partitions. Diverse sizes of sandcrete blocks are used to construct free-standing walls and building structures with load and non-load-bearing units.

Sandcrete is usually used as a hollow block like concrete masonry units often 450mm(18in) wide, 150mm(5.9in) high and 300mm(12in) long with hollow that run from top to bottom and occupy around one-third of the volume of the block. The blocks are joined together with mortar. It is the main building material for walls of single-storey buildings (such as houses and schools).

Sandcrete blocks reduced wall thickness due to the narrower concrete blocks than the traditional brick masonry wall. It makes building more systematic, faster and stronger than brick masonry because of the vast size of the block.

Better thermal insulation is provided.

It effectively absorbs sound and protects the interior from noise pollution. It also provides additional fire protection.


Sandcrete blocks protects previous agricultural land that is extensively mined to produce clay bricks. When it comes to living arrangements, sandcrete bloke homes make sense if you want to be environmentally conscious.

Although the cost of building is higher with this material, most homeowners can recoup the difference in cost throughout the life of the property when compared to other materials.

Combining colors together could result in creating a state of mine as seen by the observer and could eventually result in positive or negative effect on them.

Colors make the room feel either more calm, cheerful, comfortable, stressful or dramatic.Color combination makes a tiny room seem larger or smaller so it is for the interior design profession to choose the appropriate the color for a place towards achieving how client would want to look at and feel in that space

Residential design is the design of the interior of private residences. As this type of design is very specific for individual situation, the needs and wants of the individual is paramount in this area of interior design.
